MINER, LOGGER, TEAMSTER, NATIVE OF TWO CREEKS, WISCONSIN

Isaac was a son of Arthur and Lilias (THOMPSON) WILLIAMSON, natives of the Shetland Islands.

His family immigrated to the US in June 1855, and settled first at Manitowoc., Manitowoc Co., Wisconsin.

Isaac (Ike) was born there on 22 October 1857; he died at Algona, Washington, aged 72, of gastric carcinoma and senility; and he was buried at Sumner Cemetery on 14 January 1930 [Manitowoc Co. Vital Records, Marr., vol. 5, p. 76; Welcome Lahey, written communication; Wash. State Death Rec., No. 30, filed 12 January 1930].

Isaac married Emma C. LAHEY at Two Rivers, Wisconsin, on 2 July 1882, in a ceremony officiated by Justice of the Peace Henry GOEDJEN [Wisconsin State Index, Marriages, Pre-1907].

Their daughter Myrtle was born in Wisconsin, perhaps at Two Rivers, in 1886.

Isaac and Emma removed to and homesteaded at Baker City, Oregon, probably by August 1891, when his mother died nearby, and later moved to Seattle, Washington [Welcome Lahey, pers. comm., 1989]. Emma and Isaac were assessed for property in Baker County, Oregon from 1894 to 1897 [Oregon Historical Records Index Search].

Isaac, a quartz miner, Emma, and daughter Myrtle and three male lodgers were enumerated at North Sumpter, Baker Co., Oregon, in the 1900 US Census. Myrtle was their only child.

By 1905, Ike and Emma resettled at Seattle, King Co., Washington, where they resided until July(?) 1928. There, Isaac was first a logger and later a driver and transfer man [Polk's Seattle Dir.]. Isaac is listed on the 1910 Baker Co., Oregon, Tax List, suggesting that he retained property there.

Isaac, Emma, and their married daughter Myrtle LANE were enumerated together at Seattle (Ward 3), King Co., Washington in the 1910 US Census. At the time, Isaac was the manager of a lumber mill, Emma kept a boarding house, and Myrtle had no occupation.

From 1916 to 1927 Isaac and Emma resided in Seattle [Seattle Dir.; Obituary for her mother, Barbara Lahey, The (Two Rivers) Reporter, Thursday, 7 February 1918, Page 1, Col. 1].

Isaac, Emma, and their married daughter Myrtle LANE were enumerated together at King Co., Washington in the 1920 US Census.

At the time of his death, Isaac and Emma had resided at Algona, Washington, for 2 years, where he was a truck driver.

Ike and Emma's only known child was Myrtle C., who was born in November 1886 in Wisconsin. Myrtle married James Franklin LANE on 16 July 1902 in Baker Co., Oregon. Her husband, James, was born in 1886; died on 6 March 1940 in Umatilla Co., Oregon; was buried there at Pleasant View Cemetery, Stanfield.

Their two daughters, Doris and Helen, were born in Oregon in the 1900s but this family moved to Los Angeles by 1910 and remained there until at least the 1920 US Census. Myrtle and James divorced by 1926. By the 1930 US Census, Myrtle lived alone in Los Angeles,California, and managed an apartment house there.

James married second Frankie STURDIVANT on 16 August 1926 at Umatilla Co., Oregon, and had another daughter, Marie F., with her.
