Jimmy Lee Beasley, affectionately known as "Beasley" was born in Brinkley, Arkansas to the late Alfred and Mae Elizabeth Beasley. Jimmy had 11 siblings, 7 preceded him in death.

Jimmy and his family moved to Detroit in 1972. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member at Christland Missionary Baptist Church.

Jimmy was educated at the Detroit Public Schools system. While in high school, he was a star basketball player and had a great love for other extra curriculum activities, including checkers.

Jimmy started work at the age of 15, making pizzas. Later, he branched off into home improvement. Some of his professions were roofing, framing, flooring and working on the assembly line. However, he developed a mastery for painting and plastering finishing his love of the trade at Prime Star Painting Inc. at the age of 59 before becoming ill. He was a passionate worker with a heart of gold and longed to put a smile on his customers' faces.

On September 14, 1974, Jimmy met the love of his life, Beverly. They shared a one of a kind love. From this love two beautiful children were born, daughter, Nakeita Smith and son, Cedrick Smith. He also had two loving grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Jasmine and Jordan Smith.
