William "Tree" Guthrie, 72, of Columbia, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans' Hospital.

Memorial services were held Friday, May 10 at Unity Center of Columbia; 1600 W Broadway, Columbia MO 65203.

Born in Columbia on Nov. 3, 1946 to Albert and Laura Guthrie, Tree was the oldest of four boys. He graduated from Columbia Hickman High School in 1964, and later enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served from 1965-1969.

Tree returned to Columbia in the summer of 1969, after his service in the Navy. Soon after, he met his wife Cheryl and started a family. He worked for the United States Postal Service until he retired in 2000 after 30 years. He enjoyed traveling across the country with his wife and loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Laura; his brothers, Larry, Ronald and Robert; his wife Cheryl; and his grand-daughter Imani.
