Miller, Maureen E. (nee Hurley), passed away March 2, 2020. Maureen was born in Denver, Colorado on January 9, 1938. The daughter of Daniel and Vera Hurley (nee Swanson), loving mother of Joyce Alcorn (Mark) and John Wilcox; cherished grandmother of Erin and Colin Alcorn and Drake and Madison Wilcox; beloved friend of Chuck; dear sister of Eileen, Marian, Kenneth, and Sharon.

Maureen, always young-at-heart, enjoyed life’s activities and loved being involved. She graduated from Iowa State University as a vocal music major. She studied classical guitar in NYC and Spain. She obtained her pilot’s license at age 52 and loved her Grumman Cheetah and 1942 WACO UPF-7 biplane. She loved to sing and her enthusiasm for music was a gift she passed to her children and grandchildren. She loved her cats, but was kind to all animals, and frequently cared for the “critters” in her backyard. She enjoyed being Irish; making fudge, porcelain dolls and mohair bears; smocking and heirloom sewing; traveling with her family; dancing the two-step; and most recently, on a journey to master the banjo. Most of all, Maureen’s joy was her family. She was their light. She will be missed but always in their hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at the Manchester United Methodist Church, 129 Woods Mill Rd. To honor Maureen’s life, memorial contributions may be made to the Manchester United Methodist/Choir or the Humane Society of Missouri.
