Her paternal father Spencer Jordan and Stepmother Marie Magoon were both convicted of First Degree Murder in her death and are serving 25 year terms.Six-year-old Meika Dawn Jordan died on Nov. 14 at Alberta Children's hospital following an incident the day earlier at her family home in the city's northeast.

With close to 130 people crowding the Mountain View Funeral Home east of Calgary, Jordan was recalled as being a playful and loving sister to her four siblings, who she would dress up in fancy dresses for her regular backyard tea parties.

The youngster was fondly remembered as a lover of the outdoors and for having a "larger than life" personality whose short time deeply impacted the lives of everyone she knew.

"She was a shining star who could light the darkest night," said Shannel Robinson, Meika's aunt.

"She had a vivid and wild imagination that could take you to worlds you'd long forgotten since becoming an adult."

Ken Jordan, the girl's grandfather, fought through tears as he described Meika's joy during Easter egg hunts and summer days at the lake before reading letters from Jordan's parents that described her love of music and dancing.

"She was always happy and made everyone she ever met smile," the grandfather said.

"She definitely had the power to change the world one day."

Reverend Rose Brower Young said Jordan was always happiest when she was playing in nature and kept a ladybug collection in her bedroom until she became concerned that they might be better off outdoors.

But Young said Meika wasn't without her vices, as her love of candy and Slurpees from 7-11 was insatiable.

Sources said initial indications are the youngster allegedly fell down the stairs in her Temple home and now homicide and child abuse detectives are investigating the death.

The case is closed - Her paternal father Spencer Jordan and Stepmother Marie Magoon were both convicted of First Degree Murder in her death and are serving 25 year terms.
