George was a true patriot — serving in the US Air Force in World War II and later in the Korean conflict. He worked for the Bureau of Reclamation for more than 30 years on Flaming Gorge, Deer Creek, Starvation, and other dams. His work provided the opportunity for the family to spend several years living in Duchesne where they made many dear, life-long friends. He served for many years on the Duchesne County School Board. As a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, George and Gerry served a mission in Philadelphia.
George was preceded in death by his parents (Joseph and Kate), three brothers (Frank, Glade, and Baby Terry), two sisters (Norma Cluff and Francis Rowley), and a great granddaughter, Makenzie Lynn Terry.
He is survived by his eternal companion, Gerry and their five wonderful children: Paul (and Becky), Patricia (and Al Nielsen), Steven (and Jill), Scott (and Donna), and Jon (and Angie); 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; his older sister, Alene Rowley, and younger brother, Hilton.
His loving wife, family, Mountain Dew, and sharing good jokes were some of the greatest joys in his life. We will miss this spiritual giant, but it warms our hearts to know he is reunited with loving family members, holding that sweet great granddaughter, and making the hosts of heaven laugh (or groan).
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11 at the 505 E. 900 N. meetinghouse in Spanish Fork. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Friends and family may also pay their respects on Sunday, March 10 at Walker Mortuary (187 S. Main Street, Spanish Fork) between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
