Following a lengthy illness, Isaiah Strong died at his home in Bethany on Wednesday, January 21, aged 87 years. A farmer all his lifetime, he had just recently moved from his home on 7A Highway into the village. He was born in Manvers Township, one of eleven children in the family of the late Robert Strong and his wife Mary Staples. He was an adherent of the United Church and member of the Loyal Orange Lodge 1022. Immediately surviving are his wife the former Vercy Challice; four sons: Gordon Strong, Pontypool: Elwood Strong, Wilberforce; Roy Strong and Ronald Strong, Bethany; three daughters: Mrs. Mansel Finney (Mary) Bethany; Mrs. Richard Armstrong (Rita) Pontypool; Mrs. Edward Rose (Erma) Peterborough; also 31 grandchildren. A son, Lloyd Strong predeceased him several years ago. The funeral service was held from the Mackey Funeral Home in Lindsay on Saturday, with the Rev. R. R. Bonsteel officiating.
