I do not think this is the Susanna Chesley who is the daughter of Thomas Chesley and Elizabeth Thomas. The information I have for that John Smith and Susanna Chesley is as follows: him - b. 13 Jul 1672, d. 14 May 1744; her - abt 1671, d. 24 Mar 1746. In addition, John Sr and Susanna had eight children: John Jr, Elizabeth, Joseph, Hannah, Samuel, Benjamin, Ebenezer, & Winthrop. No Daniel or Margret. Any sources you have for your information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for maintaining this memorial, I posted a note with flowers about the John & Susannah Smith family of Massachusetts and Stonington, CT that this seems to be, which is NOT the John & Susannah Smith of New Hampshire. I'll include more information here and if you've got an ancestry.com account you can see my John Smith entry here https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/110981848/person/100106870843/facts

If you don't have an ancestry account to make it easier to copy/paste information for this Smith family please let me know and I'll email you a family group sheet with sources etc.

The primary source of this info is the book "History of the Town of Stonington" here https://play.google.com/books/reader?id=tvILAAAAYAAJ&printsec=frontcover&output=reader&hl=en&pg=GBS.PA570.w.1.0.0 and I list other sources on my ancestry tree.

The John Smith buried in Stonington was born 13 Jul 1672 in Watertown, Mass to Daniel Smith Jr. and Mary Grant. He married a Susannah about 1694; this could have been another Chesley (per "History of Stonington" or could have been Susannah Parker born 1666 in Dedham to Samuel and Sara (Unknown). This birth date would roughly match "78th year of her age" on Susannah Smith's 1746 gravestone. At any rate Susannah's name is unproven.

They had 9 children between 1695 and 1710 with the first (Jerusha) born 1695 in Newton, MA and the last (Susannah) born 1710 possibly in Stonington since John Smith had property in Stonington by 1709 and may have moved there by that date. Their son Daniel (b. 1700 Newton, MA) married Thankful Billings 18 Mar 1724/25 in Stonington; those gravestones are supposedly next to Daniels' parents John & Susannah in the same cemetery and you already have the correct find a grave links for Daniel and Thankful.

The children currently listed (Ephraim, Daniel, Margaret, Esther) are correct; the others are Jerusha, Lucy, Josiah, Silas and Susannah, all detailed on my family tree at the link above to the best of my ability (dates, spouses etc).

The New Hampshire Smiths are well researched and described in "A genealogical record of the Smiths of Oyster River..." available at no cost on familysearch.org here https://dcms.lds.org/delivery/DeliveryManagerServlet?dps_pid=IE1169750

They were also married in 1694 but the names of their children, their death dates etc are different from the Stonington Smiths (14 May 1744 for John of NH). I have not been able to find an entry on findagrave for the Oyster River Smiths (parents or children) or for the Stonington Smiths parents (Daniel Smith / Mary Grant).
