Born in Metter, he was a son of Ouida Roberson Lanier and James Willis Lanier. He grew up in Charleston, South Carolina and moved back to Cobbtown over twenty-eight years ago. Mr. Lanier was a member of Connors Baptist Church and was a veteran having served in the United States Army.
Surviving are his sister, Ann Rehrig (Tim) of Charleston, South Carolina; two brothers, Larry Lanier and Paul Lanier both of Cobbtown; and two nieces.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
