Shreveport -- Patricia Ann Manning, 73, was called home to Heaven, Thursday, March 5, 2020.

A celebration of Life will begin with a visitation between the hours of 5 & 7 PM, Monday, March 9 at Hill Crest Funeral Home, Haughton, LA. A private graveside funeral, for the family, will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 10, at Hill Crest Cemetery.

Patricia was born on Tuesday, May 14, 1946, to the proud couple, Elwood and Mary Alice Manning, in Birmingham, AL. Later the Manning family headed north to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where Patricia graduated from North Hills High School. Later Patricia relocated to Louisiana, where, not only did she raise her children, additionally Patricia obtained her bachelor’s degree in English from L.S.U.-Shreveport. She also went on to earn a master’s degree, plus an additional 30 hours from Centenary College in Shreveport. She spent her career as an educator in the Bossier and Caddo Parish School Board systems.

“Pat” as many knew her had many passions in life. She was a devout Christian and loved Jesus. She loved her family and adored her grandchildren, sharing a particularly close relationship with Sarah-Beth, her granddaughter with Down Syndrome, who referred to her as “Ninny”. She also enjoyed gardening. Those who knew her best can quickly recite Pat’s two greatest loves: Coffee and Chocolate.

Ms. Manning was preceded in death by: father Elwood Manning; mother, Mary Alice Alexander Manning; and one grandson, Michael Joseph Dupuy.

Left to cherish her memory are: her daughters, Deborah ‘Debby’ (& Phil) Taber, and Katharine ‘Kati’ (& Preston) Hutson; her “favorite son”, David (& Mindi) Marshall. Also left to carry on “Grandma’s” legacy are: grandchildren, Benjamin (& Natalee) Dupuy, William (& Alex) Dupuy, Ethan Taber, Hannah Hutson, Sarah Hutson, and Abigail Hutson; great-granddaughter, Ella Blue Dupuy. She also leaves two brothers: Phil Manning and Paul Manning.

Inspire a love of knowledge and truth, as you light the path which leads our youth.

She impacted more individuals than we’ll ever know and will be missed both in and out of the classroom!
