Carol Jean Wentz, 81, of Terre Haute, went to the Great Casino in the Sky on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. She was born on January 31, 1939, in Brazil to Harold and Mary (Murphy) Howard.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Vickie Bays and husband George of Terre Haute; grandson, George “Trey” Bays III of Terre Haute; sister, Peggy Wells of Brazil; brother, John Howard and wife Dee of Brazil; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Everett Biggs; her second husband, Ivan Wentz; and a sister, Barbara Tolbert.

A native of Brazil, Carol graduated from Brazil High School in 1957. She retired from CBS. Carol was a member of VFW Post 972 Auxiliary.

Carol loved to gamble and made frequent trips to French Lick. She looked forward to her Thursday poker games that she played every week with her family. A world traveler, Carol visited many different countries and continents during her marriage to Ivan. She also enjoyed gardening and fishing. Short in stature and spunky by nature, Carol was a delight and will be missed by her family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 12 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home.
