Betty Virginia (Millhollin) Hays, 74-year-old lifetime Vinita resident, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2019 at her home. She was born September 24, 1944 to John Wesley and Eugenia Ethel (Rouse) Millhollin in Vinita, Oklahoma. Betty graduated from Northeast Oklahoma A&M at the top of her class as a registered nurse, and worked for Eastern State Hospital from the time she was 18 until she retired. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, Yatzee and the poker machine, fishing and visiting, and playing Dominos with her grandsons. Betty was a member of Church on the Lake of Ketchum.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and one great-grandchild, Cadeau Odell Long.
The family includes: her children, John Randall Smith and wife Sherry, and Shelley Lile and husband Dane, all of Vinita; grandchildren Luke Lile and wife Melissa, Lake Lile, John Wesley Smith and girlfriend Kasey Grizzard, Krista Long and husband Justin; great-grandchildren Raegan Adele and Addison Blayke Long, Sadie Rae and Kanie Jae Smith, Elizabeth Mae, Annebella Sue, and Remington Dane Lile.
The family will receive friends from 6pm – 8pm Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral Chapel. The Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m at Log Cabin Ministeries, with Tommy and Mary McGlasson officiating. Interment will follow at Carselowey Cemetery.
