Charlie Foster Sr., age 89, of Capac (recently of Lapeer), Michigan died Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility of Lapeer, MI. Charlie Allen Foster was born June 12, 1930 in Vicco, Virginia.
He grew up in Toms Creek, Virginia. Charlie is the son of the late Lindsey and the late Ida (Maples) Foster. He married Betty Jean Richardson on December 24, 1952 in Wise County, Virginia.
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1952 during the Korean War. Charlie was employed as a general laborer and retired from Anderson Blueberry Farm in Imlay City, MI. He worked as a machinist and general laborer in the Capac area at various small factories and for Grand Steel in Detroit for a period of time. Charlie was employed as a coal miner in Wise, Virginia at a young age. Charlie was the interim Past for Mt. Olive Free Will Baptist Church in Auburn Hills, MI. He was ordained by the Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by; his wife: Betty Foster; four daughters: Lynn (Brian, Sr.) Bills of Waterford, MI, Kay (Rev. Pete) Crawford of Millington, MI, Darlene (Jerry) Green of Sandusky, MI and Robin (Philip) Kamp of Marlette, MI; his three sons: Allen (Lois) Foster, Jr. of Sterling Heights, MI, Robert (Sandy) Foster of Armada, MI and Nathan Foster of Olympia, WA; his two sisters: Mary Lou Ritchie of Coeburn, VA and Lois Donnelly of Elizabeth, TN; 26 grandchildren; and 48 great-grandchildren.
Charlie was preceded in death by: his parents: Lindsey & Ida Foster; four brothers: James Foster, Willis Foster, Ray Foster, and William Foster; his three sisters: Nell Kiser, Bernice Foster, and Willie Mae Denton; and his two great-grandchildren: Elijah Allen Ayres and Jacob Wayne Ellis.
The Funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Faith Free Will Baptist Church, 64395 Romeo Plank Rd., Ray Township, MI. Interment will take place at Greenwood Acres Cemetery in Coeburn, Virginia, 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 6, 2020. The family will be available for visitation 4-8 pm, Tuesday, March 3 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. A Veteran's Salute will take place at 7:15 pm, Tuesday. Those wishing to make memorial contributions may direct them to: Teen Challenge, 440 Pontaluna Rd., Muskegon, MI 49444. Funeral arrangements were made by Muir Brothers Funeral Home and Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, VA.
