She was born August 16, 1948, in Tallapoosa to the late Curtis Bennett and Laudell Watts Dobbs.
Mrs. Bell was baptized by her father at Mtn. Creek Church and later was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church before the family moved to Mississippi. She was a dedicated homemaker and a wonderful Christian woman. After her boys graduated high school, she honed her craft of writing. She wrote beautiful poetry and magazine articles and received the Golden Poet Award which was presented to her in Las Vegas by Milton Berle.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Bell.
She is survived by her two sons, John (Sara) Bell of Ocean Springs, MS, and Donavon Bell of Gulfport, MS; two sisters, Naomi Dobbs (William Bell) and Sharon (Raymond) Ballew of Tallapoosa; a brother, Larry Dobbs of Buchanan; two brothers-in-law, Bobby (Judy) Bell of Bremen and Tommy (Sandra) Bell of Newnan; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020, at 3:00 PM from Providence Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Randy Robinson officiating. Rev. Robinson will also provide music.
Pallbearers will include Bryan Bentley, John Bell, Donavon Bell, Raymond Ballew, William Bell, and Sara Bell.
Interment will follow in Providence Church Cemetery.
