She was born October 16, 1938, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, a daughter of the late Charles Whitlow Jr, mother Novella Armstrong, adopted father Dalton Armstrong. Charlene was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Donald L Ross, son-in-law Dennis Tillemans, granddaughter Sabrina Ross.
She was a member of the St. Michaels Catholic Church in Mulvane, and a homemaker. Prior to settling in Kansas they traveled and lived throughout the United States in Oklahoma, California, New Mexico, Maine, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana chasing the love and passion in Don’s aviation career. Her greatest joy and devotion was her family, continuously leading the way in her Godly faith. Her most cherished quality was always seeing the good in everyone. A true essence of grace.
She is survived by her children Michael Ross (Heather Carter), Debra Tillemans, Karen Walker (Greg Graber), Janet Regan (Randy), James Ross, Brenda Looney (Andy). Her grandchildren and great grandchildren; Brandi Beckstein (Jim, Madeline, Hudson, Lauryn), Josh Walker (Sara, Chase, Blake, Jaxon, Kyran), Miranda Wiley (Gary, Hayley & Paschal Robol - Graysen Robol, Sarenah Miller, Ryker & Brittan Wiley), Chris Walker (Stacy, Avery, Austin), Amber Tillemans, Shawn Regan (Chloe, Hannah, Shawn Jr), Misty Jackson (Robert), Dallas Gurley (Bella) Megan McGraw (Aaron, Hagen, Boston), Ashley VanVoorhis (Shae, Aries, Emerie), Madison Looney, and Braylon Ross.
Funeral services will be held 11a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Smith Mortuary, 501 E. Louis Drive in Mulvane, Kansas. Burial will follow at Mulvane Cemetery, East 119th Street South.
Charlene’s family will serve as her pallbearers.
