George William Weaver, 95-year-old White Oak resident passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Hillcrest Hospital of Claremore. He was born on September 15, 1924 in Vinita to Estey Weaver, Sr. and Anna (Swartwood) Weaver. George graduated from White Oak High School in 1942 and was the Valedictorian of his class. He was married to Betty Jo (Willis) who preceded him in death in 2010. They lived in many states, mostly in Arizona, New Mexico and Oklahoma. He was retired from the Honeywell Corporation in Arizona. George also opened the first Coin-o-matic Laundry in Grove. He sold real estate for a time after his retirement and started the Koodbranch when he moved to the White Oak area. George was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy. He had also been a Church of Christ Minister and was a member of the Vinita Church of Christ. George volunteered many years at the Veterans Administration assisting in many capacities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Jo, a son, Steven Weaver, brother, Estey Weaver, Jr. and sister, Norma Bennett of Vinita.
The surviving family includes; his daughter, Rita Johnston and husband Herb of California; three grandchildren, Herbie Johnston, Jonathan Johnston and Jason Weaver; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Frances Garrett and Linda Brown and her husband Henry all of Vinita.
The graveside service and military rites will be held on Friday, February 7, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Big Cabin Cemetery with Bob Hampton and Leland Bartlett officiating.
