In 1946, she met and married Russell Tanner, then a Marine aviator stationed at El Toro. They were married nearly 64 years until his death. They remained in Santa Ana, raising their family until 1998 when they relocated to Chula Vista.
She was a member of the PEO sisterhood for 71 years and actively volunteered with the Assistance League of Santa Ana and her churches, Episcopal Church of the Messiah in Santa Ana and St. John's Episcopal Church in Chula Vista.
She is survived by her 3 loving sons, Ross, Ric and Scott, her daughters-in-law, Kathy, Nancy and Sonia, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 11:00 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 760 1st Avenue, Chula Vista. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. John's Episcopal Church.
