A lifelong resident of Fredericksburg, he was affectionately known as "the Mayor of Hunter Street," and was retired from Quantico Marine Corps Base in the maintenance department.
He is survived by his wife, Millie; three sisters, Thelma Snellings, Virginia Turner and Clair Newton; his stepson, Kevin Donahue of Caroline County; and his faithful dog, Buster.
His remains rest at the Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, and where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, with Dr. A. Bland Campbell officiating.
