Eugene C. “Jr” Adams, 71, of Spicer, died Sunday, January 26th at Bethesda Club Suites following his battle with cancer. His funeral will be 10:30 am, Friday, January 31st at Faith Lutheran Church in Spicer with interment in the columbarium. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 pm at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. www.hafh.org Memorials preferred to donor's choice.
Gene was born May 21, 1948, in Willmar, the son of Gus and Florence (Rademacher) Adams. He grew up in Willmar where he was baptized and confirmed at United Methodist Church and graduated from Willmar High School in 1966. He continued his education at Willmar State Junior College where he received his Associate’s Degree and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1970 with a Bachelor’s of Business Degree.
On September 15, 1973, he was united in marriage to Rondi Bjorlo in Spring Grove. Following their marriage, they lived in Willmar until moving to Spicer in 1977. To this union three children were born: Sam, Peter, and Jill.
Gene worked as a top food salesman for many years, retiring from SYSCO in 2012. After retirement, he kept busy with West Central Industries delivering Meals on Wheels, catering with McKale’s, and working for G&S Staffing Services, Inc. Gene was a member of the Men’s Auxiliary of VFW Post #1639 in Willmar and Sons of the American Legion Post #545 in Spicer. His family recalls his love of being Santa Claus for different events in the community over the years. He also enjoyed attending several coffee klatches around town, playing cribbage, and making friends wherever he went.
Surviving are his children: Sam Adams, Peter (Bridgette) Adams and Jill (Aaron) Johnson; grandchildren: Grace, Madelyn and Autumn Adams; sister Peggy Adams; and former spouse Rondi Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents and fiancée, Pat Petersen.
