Born May 16, 1944 in Patterson, he was a son of the late Elder Willie Ben and Letha Juanita Manning Johnson. A lifelong resident of Pierce County, he was retired as a foreman with Georgia-Florida Agriculture. He was of the Primitive Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Janet Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jannie Thornton Johnson of Blackshear; 3 children, Pam Boyett (husband Joseph) of Patterson, Donis Olen Johnson of Blackshear, and Anthony Johnson (wife Jennifer) of Blackshear; 7 grandchildren, Tesha Alexander (husband Christopher) of Fitzgerald, Nicholas Johnson, Carter Johnson, Kayla Johnson, and Cooper Johnson, all of Blackshear, Victoria Johnson of Wayne County, and Donna Sellers (husband Hunter) of Brantley County; 4 great grandchildren who loved their “GP”, Zachary, Ava Johanna, Jonathan, Isabella Alexander, all of Fitzgerald; his sister, Eunice Douberly of Blackshear; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A funeral service will take place Friday afternoon (3/6/20) at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the New Home Cemetery in Offerman.
The family will receive friends on Friday at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
