George Edward Austin was born on April 7 th, 1940 to Joseph Austin and Stella Hyer in Union Beach, New Jersey. At 17, George left home and joined the Air Force. Once he was discharged, George became a fireman for both Fruitridge Fire Department and Sacramento Metro Fire Department where he served 31 years reaching the rank of Captain. While George served as a fireman, he was a leader, a team player, a teacher, and a hero to many people that he helped throughout his 31-year career.

George met the love of his life, Penny Leilani Edwards in 1985 and were married in 1989, sadly Penny preceded George in death in 2016. They shared children from previous marriages and were extremely proud of all of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. George helped raise his stepdaughter Sunny Dawn (who affectionately called his unnatural daughter) and his granddaughter who Penny and him claimed as their daughter Samantha B. Austin. George loved his old cars and attending car shows with his love, Penny throughout their lives.

George was loved by all who knew him, he will be missed beyond measure. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to Sacramento burn center or Shriners Hospital.
