Obituary

Albert Leo Dalton, 89, passed from this life surrounded by family at St. Louis University Hospital on February 13, 2020. Ab, as he loved to be called, was born on January 12, 1931 in Hendrickson, MO. He was the son of Lee and Mabel Dalton. On March 24, 1962, he married Elsie Durrow. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Juanita Terry, brothers Bobby Dalton and Eugene Dalton, and daughter Sherry Dalton. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Dalton, sister Evelyn Meloy (Ed) of Silva, MO, daughter Debra Wilkes of Williamsville, son Dr. Mark Dalton of Coeur d’Alene, ID, granddaughter Allison Wilkes (Kevin Hunsberger) of Poplar Bluff, Kristin Little, Jesse Lefler and many other close friends and relatives that enriched his life. Ab was a hard worker from a young age. At sixteen, he started a 20-year career at Williamsville Stone, followed by 20 years of work in construction from which he retired in 1982. In retirement, Ab enjoyed over watering his garden and sharing his bountiful harvest. Lawn mowing was serious business, which seemed to be a NASCAR event. His hobbies also included hunting, fishing, and recounting stories, each version better than the last. He was a lover of music, liked to dance and to play old country and gospel music on his fiddle or harmonica. During downtime Ab could be found kicked back watching the Westerns. He and Elsie enjoyed a lifetime hosting regular large family dinners and game nights with a house full of love and laughter. He attended the Assembly of God Church in Williamsville. Ab looked at the world with an enthusiastic wonderment , and his happy disposition and big baby blues will be missed.
