Hieu Thi Nguyen, age 51, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Hieu was born October 10, 1968 in Hue, Vietnam.

She loved her family above all else and always put them as her first priority. She was a selfless, loving person and was always willing to take care of others. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her siblings.

She loved her husband, Kha, dearly. They were married in 1991 in Vietnam.

She was so proud of her children and felt blessed to have witness her daughter, Anh, accomplish her goal of becoming a pharmacist. She had so much faith in her son, Bao, and was always there for him.

She sacrificed so much for her husband and family. They love and appreciate her so much and always will. Kha was always with Hieu, and he knows they will be together in the next life too. She will be in her family’s hearts forever. Hieu was beloved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Kha Luong; daughter, Anh Luong; son, Bao Luong; eight siblings; and numerous extended family members. Hieu was preceded in death by her sister, Loc Nguyen.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5th and Friday, March 6th at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. There will be a Rosary service on Friday, March 6th at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ambrose Cathedral, 607 High Street, Des Moines. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
