Evelyn was a graduate of Lanphier High School. She proudly served as a nurse in the U.S. Army. Evelyn was employed as a labor and delivery nurse. She also worked at Bunn Capitol and as an administrative employee for the State of Illinois. Evelyn was a member of the VFW Post #755 and enjoyed playing slot machines in her free time.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary Manes; and sisters-in-law, Alvira Manes and Linda Manes.
She is survived by her husband, Danny; sons, Danny Evans, Jr. of Denver, CO, and Frank Evans of Springfield; grandchildren, Kayla Evans of Phoenix, AZ, Megan Evans of Springfield, Maria Evans of Miami, FL, and Daniel Evans and Stephen Evans, both of Indianapolis, IN; brothers, Gaylord "Tiny" Manes of Springfield and Larry Manes of Largo, FL; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Boardman-Smith Funeral Home, 800 South Grand Ave. West, Springfield.
Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6, 2020 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5063 Camp Butler Rd., Springfield, with military honors by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Army Department of Defense.
