Thelma G. Lewis, 93 of Huntington passed away on Sunday, March 1. 2020 at Visiting Nurse and Hospice in Fort Wayne. Thelma was a 1944 graduate of Huntington High School. She had worked at Indiana Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator for 30 years. She later worked for Huntington County Community School Corporation in the HNHS cafeteria. She also had worked at H.K. Porter for nine years. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church where she taught Bible School. She was also a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Huntington Hospital Guild, American Legion Auxiliary Post 85 and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2689.

Thelma was born on July 14, 1926 in Ada, Ohio, the daughter of Virgil and Dorothy (Crist) Jamison.

She was united in marriage to Christian W. Bischoff on November 4, 1945 in Huntington. Christian preceded her in death on January 18, 1969. She later married Dewain N. Lewis on April 4, 1981 in Huntington. Dewain preceded her in death on December 10. 1999.

Survivors include: a son: David Bischoff of Huntington; a daughter: Dana (Bill) Tester of Huntington; a stepson: Charles Brumbaugh of Huntington and several step grandchildren.

Thelma was preceded in death by two stepson: Ted Lewis, Larry Lewis; a stepdaughter: Bette Willour and a daughter-in-law: Geryl Bischoff.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2020 at 10:30 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.

Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.

Memorial donations can be made out to Bethel United Methodist Church or Visiting Nurse and Hospice both in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
