He was born September 27, 1940 in Ottumwa to Alfred and Frances Keller Chambers. He married Linda Sipe and they later divorced. He married Becky Daugherty October 25, 1986.
Donald worked 13 years at John Morrell and Co, and for 28 years at John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 2000. He then worked 7 years in maintenance for the City of Blakesburg, retiring in 2007.
He and his wife, Becky enjoyed camping.
Surviving is his wife Becky; son Allen (Deb) Chambers of Granbury, TX; step-son Sean (Angie) Daugherty of Gladstone, MO; 2 grandsons; a step-grandson; a step-granddaughter; and 2 great-grandsons; a sister Lois Walker of Viola, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carmen Young; brother, Alvin Chambers; and two sisters, Francine Caryl and Theanell Morrow.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m.. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Graveside services and burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Shaul Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Blakesburg Fire and Rescue.
