FRANCES IDA KRALOWETZ 1921 - 2020
Frances was born in Hammond, Indiana on November 26, 1921 to Mary Elizabeth “Mollie” Boos and Francis “Frank” Joseph Kralowetz. She was the fourth of six children. When she was 19, Frances went to Los Angeles for a friend’s wedding and stayed, moving to the Los Angels, California area where she was employed at Lockheed Aircraft Corporation in Burbank.
In California, Frances soon met, and in 1944, married Willard Bowman Ingersoll. Frances and Willard had two sons, Gary and Will.
By 1955, Frances, Willard and their sons were living in Bakersfield, California. Frances continued to work in the secretarial field, becoming an executive secretary with Sears. Willard was employed in sales. In 1961 Frances and Willard divorced. She and the boys remained in Bakersfield until 1963 when Gary graduated from East Bakersfield High School.
Frances married Penny Arthur Pearson in 1966. When Penny retired, they RV’ed extensively and traveled the world, often as volunteers with a businesses and entrepreneurs mentoring group. They were living in Hemet in 1991 when Penny died. They had been married for 26 years.
After Penny’s death, Frances became a dedicated docent at the Diamond Valley Lakes Visitors’ Center in Hemet. She did other volunteer work, went on many group trips and traveled on her own.
In 1997, Frances married Claire Gillette, a long time resident of Hemet. Claire proposed to Frances by laying out an elaborate, multiple vacation plan on a table, asking Frances what she thought about it. She replied, “It looks great.” Claire then said, “there’s only one problem, I don’t’ want to go by myself.” Frances smiled and accepted Claire's invitation. They lived in Hemet on Sorrel Drive in what Frances referred to as “The Compound” for several years before moving into The Village Retirement Community and Continuing Care in Hemet. They had been happily married for 18 years when Claire died in 2015 at age 99.
Frances continued to live at The Village, enjoying the activities and entertainments as well as the many available excursions. Later, she would refer to her walker as her “Freedom Wheels.” Frances died on March 9, 2020 of complications after surgery for a broken hip. She was bright, spunky and alert until the end.
