It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Thomas A. “Tom” Warren of Battle Creek, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. He was born May 16, 1933 in Alamo, MI the son of Merle and Frances (Holtom) Warren. Tom attended Delton Kellogg High School, class of 1951. He met his one true love Jacqueline “Jackie” Jones at the Midway Roller Rink in 1952. They were married August 23, 1953 at the Community Church in Level Park and celebrated 61 years of marriage in 2014. Tom enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was a lifetime Farmer and worked as a painter for Kellogg’s for 30 plus years before retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club and the Country Chapel United Methodist Church in Dowling. Tom and Jackie were well known patrons of the Country Fever Dance Hall. You could always count on the two dancing the night away and a song or two from Tom. He was a country boy at heart who loved his animals and going to barn sales. He spent quality time with his children and grandchildren down on the farm. Tom would travel statewide, showing his Draft Horses for various organizations in summer parades. He was proud of his cactus’ and molded them from the ground up in 1965 and they are still standing to this day. Tom was known for his “firm handshake” and he loved to socialize.
He is survived by his children, Steve (Melanie) Warren, Toni Warren, and Lori (Ron) Burton; grandchildren, Mandy Franks, Zach Warren, and Holden (Lynsee) Warren; great granddaughter, Emily Franks; brothers, Jack Warren, Bill (Jan) Warren, and Dick (Becky) Warren; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, “Chief”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jackie; siblings, Bob Warren, Darlene Allen, Jean Cole, and Aletha Mann; and his fondly remembered animals his dogs, “Shep”, “Ole’ Tanner”, and “Sky” and his horse of 42 years, “Chum”.
