DORIS WARTMAN Doris Jane Firebaugh Wartman passed away March 17, 2018, after a brief illness. She was born December 12, 1929, in the Kerr's Creek area of Rockbridge County, outside Lexington, Virginia. She attended Lexington High School and then studied Fashion Design and Costuming at Richmond Professional Institute at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. Following graduation, she traveled promoting Talon zippers in the home sewing field for several years with Donahue Sales of New York. She married attorney Alvin Nicholls Wartman and relocated to southern Nevada in 1954, residing in Boulder City until 1969 and then moving to Las Vegas. Doris was proud to be named by three Nevada governors to the Advisory Board for the Division of Aging Services and the Nevada Commission on Aging. She served as chairman of the Nevada Commission on Aging. She was a longtime member of the Republican Women of Las Vegas and associate member of Spring Mountain Republican Women. She was also a member of the Mesquite Club of Las Vegas for 43 years and the Boulder City Women's Club for 15 years. She is survived by her sons, Franklin Secord Wartman III (Rebecca) of Asheville, North Carolina, and Alvin Nicholls Wartman Jr. of Las Vegas; her grandsons, William Nicholls Wartman (Amber Keene) of Las Vegas, Franklin Secord Wartman IV (Maloree Byrd) of Durham, North Carolina, and Robert Powers Wartman (Julia Pelly-Wartman) of Charlotte, North Carolina; and her great-grandsons, Hank Christopher Pelly-Wartman and Louie Patrick Pelly-Wartman of Charlotte, North Carolina. No services are scheduled. Doris devoted her life to good food and good friends and her Wake is pending in Las Vegas.
