Former Local Woman Dies in Indiana
Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at eleven o'clock in the Pancoast Funeral Home in Bloomville for Mrs. Elizabeth (Hartzell) Marquis, 80, of South Bend, Ind., a former Bloomville resident. Death was caused Thursday night by complications incident to old age. Mrs. Marquis had been in a wheel chair for the past six months but seriously ill in a hospital only 1 ½ weeks.
A native of Bloomville, Mrs. Marquis was born to Alvin and Savana Hartzell on Sept. 27, 1878. She was married to Reid Marquis, whose death occurred in 1937. About a year after his death Mrs. Marquis went to live with her niece, Mrs. Dorothy (Hartzell) Thomson in South Bend and resided with her until a year and a half ago when it was necessary to take her to a rest home.
Surviving are a brother, William Hartzell of Tiffin, and two nieces, Mrs. Dorothy Thomson of Niles, Mich., who was reared in the Marquis home; and Mrs. Mae Jors of Norwalk.
Mrs. Marquis was a member of the Bloomville Methodist church, and the pastor of that church, the Rev. Marie Tschappat, officiated at the funeral. Burial was in Woodlawn cemetery.
