Michelle Donnell Owens passed away, peacefully, on Sept. 26, 2017 in the loving and caring arms of her Mother, Edwina. Michelle was born Aug. 23, 1973 to Len and Edwina (Gross) Owens in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She was welcomed by two rowdy and loving brothers, Dean and Darrin. In 1975, the family moved to Coeur d’Alene where her father was attending school. Two years later, the family returned to live in Bonners Ferry where Michelle continued to live the rest of her life.

Michelle attended Boundary County schools, graduating in 1992, then attending and graduating from Beauty School in Sandpoint, Idaho. Michelle was the “do all, end all” for three loving nephews, Logan, Peyton, and Brock. She made blankets, gloves, hats, blinders, toys, stuffed animals and anything else they would say they might like to have. Michelle was a talented seamstress, artist and practiced as a beautician for 22 years in Bonners Ferry. Her favorites were crocheting, making ceramics and woodworking she had learned from her grandfather, Ed Gross. She enjoyed making birthday and wedding cakes with her mother for friends and family.

Michelle was a loving, caring and most giving person to her family, friends and all she came in contact with. Her thoughts were always of others; always concerned for their well being and wanting to help with their needs before her needs. Those close to her knew that she had a fierce loyalty and protectiveness for her mother, brother, and nephews.

Michelle was preceded in death by her father, Len Owens, brother, Dean Owens, grandfather, Edwin Gross, grandfather and grandmother, Archie and Thelma Owens.

She is survived by her mother, Edwina Gross Owens, brother, Darrin (Malina) Owens, nephews, Logan, Peyton and Brock Owens, grandmother, Joyce Gross, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and endless friends.

Services will be held at Mountain Springs Church on Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 at 1 p.m. Lunch and sharing will follow. In lieu of flowers a contribution may be made at Mountain West Bank to the Michelle Owens Memorial Fund.

When Michelle left Coeur d’Alene a month ago she said she wasn’t “going home to die”; she told them “no,” she was going home to ”live.” We can all take a lesson in life from Michelle as to our mission here on earth, how to treat our fellow beings, and where we are really “going.”
