Jerry “Shrek” Hawkins, Sr., 61, of Emory, Texas passed away on February 22, 2020, in Dallas, Texas. He was born in Dallas, Texas to William and Naomi (Owens) Hawkins on February 8, 1959.

A friend recently described him as a gentle giant with the heart the size of Texas. That is very fitting, for those that knew him. He Loved to make people laugh and he would go the extra mile for those in need and give you the shirt right off his back.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Margie “Renie” Hawkins of Emory, Texas, daughters, Crystal Welch and her husband, C.J. of Ft. Worth, Texas, Christina Ellis and husband Bo of Emory, Texas, son, Jerry Hawkins, Jr. and wife Heather of Lake Dallas, three grandchildren, Jenna, Ethan and Sarah, sister, Ann Svoboda, nieces Carrie Whitney and April Burns, brother, Cecil Hawkins and his wife Janet, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi, father, William, brother, Curly, and sister, Brenda.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 24, 2020 from 5-7 PM at Faith Tabernacle Church in Denton, Texas. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Church, with a graveside service to follow at Willow Springs Cemetery in Emory, Texas at 4:00 PM.
