LOIS JEAN BLAIR, 90, of Boone, died Friday, Feb. 28th, at the Westhaven Community, in Boone. Graveside services for LOIS BLAIR will be held 1-p.m. Wed., March 4th, in the Harlan Cemetery. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.
The family will greet friends at the funeral home, from 11:30-a.m. until 12:30-p.m., Wednesday.
LOIS JEAN BLAIR is survived by:
Her sons – Craig (Vivian) Blair, of Marion, and Keith Blair, of Flandreau, SD.
Her daughters – Debra (Mike) Burdette, and Lori Huffman, all of Boone.
Her sister – Delores Petersen, of Atlantic.
11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Arletha Hockett, of Tennant.

Lois Jean Blair, the daughter of Glenn and Maude (Chase) Ray, was born on October 14th, 1929 in Defiance, Iowa. She attended Harlan High School. On March 4th 1947, Lois was united in marriage to Robert Dale Blair in Troy, Kansas. To this union four children were born: Craig, Keith, Debra and Lori.
Lois and Robert lived in various places throughout their married life: Omaha, Nebraska, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Cedar Falls, Iowa and Council Bluffs, Iowa. Most of her life, Lois was a stay at home mom, but later in her life she worked as a hotel clerk at Best Western in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Maid-rite Shop in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Assistant Manager at Sherwood Apartments in Council Bluffs, Iowa. With each job she held, Lois made lifelong friends until the end.
Lois enjoyed bowling, playing cards, reading and playing the slot machines. Even though she didn't win a jackpot, she kept going back. In her younger days, she and Robert loved to go dancing. We cannot stress enough how family oriented she was right from the moment her and Bob started their family. Lois enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and there were never any complaints from her husband and children about her cooking!! Lois loved being around her children and grandchildren especially during the holidays where the house was full of love and laughter.
In her later years Lois would move closer to her family. First to Marion, Iowa then to Boone, Iowa where she resided at Westhaven Community until her passing. On Friday February 28th, 2020, Lois passed away surrounded by her loving family. She attained the age of 90 years, 4 months and 14 days. Lois was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents and in-laws: Percy and Hazel Blair, Herb and Dorothy Sorenson, Jim Hockett, Virgil Petersen, Duane and Lois Schmidt.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children Craig Blair and wife Vivian of Marion Iowa; Keith Blair of Flandreau, South Dakota; Debra Burdette and her husband Mike of Boone, Iowa; and Lori Huffman of Boone, Iowa; her 11 grandchildren Jeff, Autumn, Robert, Christal, Kyle, Sunshine, Aaron, Laura, Tom, Jennifer, and Erik; several great grandchildren; sister Delores Petersen of Atlantic, Iowa; sister in law Arletha Hockett of Tennant, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
On March 4th, 2020 Lois will be laid to rest next to her husband Robert, side by side, on the day of their wedding anniversary. Lois will be lovingly missed by all who knew her.
