Henry was the 5th of 11 known children of William Lacey (1810-1884) & Rebecca Wilmour (1814-1894)

He first married Eliza Urry (1845-1885) in Lincolnshire & had at least 6 children (4 born in England)

- On November 7 1927, Henry, beloved husband of Rebecca Lacey, Juliet Street South, Stratford; aged 84 years. At Rest.
NOTE Rebecca was his mother's name

The death took place on Monday after a short illness of a very old settler in the district in the person of Mr Henry Lace. Mr Lacey arrived with this parents in the ship Lester and settled in New Plymouth. Some years later he took up farming in the Cardiff district and had a great deal of pioneering experience, his residence in the district covering 36 years. Mr Lacey was a local preacher in the Methodist Church, for which he did yeoman service in the early days. He is survived by Mrs Lacey, five sons, Thomas, Urenui; George, Palmerston North; Charles, Percy and Arthur, Hawera' and three daughters, Mrs A. Olson, Woodville; Mrs J. Neal, Stratford and Miss Lacey, Stratford.
