Robert L. Covington "Uncle Bobbo" passed away peacefully on February 19, 2020 in Los Angeles, California while enjoying his favorite snack of beer and popcorn.
Robert was born on April 10, 1926 in Los Angeles, California to the late Eugene and Leona Covington. He attended St. Lawrence and John C. Fremont High Schools, enlisting in the US Navy at the age of 17 after graduation. He served as a Pharmacist's Mate during World War II before returning home to pursue his love of painting and drawing. These skills lead to a 40-year career as an aerospace design engineer,where he played key roles designing interior components for the Apollo and Shuttle programs, receiving a number of awards and recognition during that time.
Robert is pre-deceased by his brother, Donald; his sister, Evelyn; and his ex-wife Beverly, with whom he had two children. He is survived by his loving children, daughter Barbara and son, Brent, and his daughter-in-law, Paloma. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly, including the Pham family, who adopted him into their own family over thirty years ago.
