She grew up as a foster child and lived with five different foster families before moving to Washington, DC at the age of 18. She began working for C&P Telephone Company (where she retired with 35 years of service) and shortly after, she met Buddy Clements who sold her a vacuum cleaner at Sears Roebuck & Co. on Alabama Avenue. Three months later, they were married on December 15, 1962. They raised their three daughters in Lothian, MD. She volunteered at church, attending Bible study and singing in the choir. She is survived by her husband, Howard Michael “Buddy” Clements; children, Lisa and Roland Colmus of Huntingtown, MD, Dana and Ben Straub of Leesburg, VA, and Julia and Jeff McFadden of Blue Bell, PA; six grandchildren, Chris and Summer Colmus, Jack and Maddie McFadden, and Max and Isaac Straub.
