Lefford Tomson was born on October 20, 1820, in Trumbull, Ohio. Son of Cornelius Tomson (1795 - 1875) & Anna Kyle (1795 - 1875). He married Mary Ann Brooks (1820 - 1901) on December 8, 1842. Lefford and Mary had eight children ...Hayes Brooks (1844-1903), Cornelius 1846-1925), William 1849-1925), John (1855-1856), Tomas Kyle (1851- __), Ann Beatrice (1853-1936), Elizabeth Hanna (1857-1877) & Charles Benton 1863-1918). Lefford died in May 1871 in Ft. Madison area - Lee County, Iowa, at the age of 50. Family historical records indicate that Lefford was caught in a flash flood (near Ft. Madison) in 1871 and drowned. No grave has been found. His wife Mary Ann Brooks Tomson (1820-1901) and family can be found at Fort Madison City Cemetery - Lee County, Iowa, USA.
