The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11:00 a. m. in the sanctuary of the Mount Zion First African Baptist Church, 203 South Twelfth Street, Cordele, Georgia.
The burial will follow at the Bethel Cemetery in Cordele, Georgia.
Mrs. Laura Mae Walker Weaver was born to the late Mr. Pete Walker, Sr. and the late Mrs. Louise Swift Walker. She was born in Cordele, Crisp County, Georgia.
As child, she was educated in the public school system. She also attended Gillespie-Selden Institute. She grew up working as a fieldworker and later was employed at the Cordele Food Bank.
Upon accepting Christ as her personal Savior, she busied herself as a member of the Mount Zion First African Baptist Church in Cordele, Georgia. Along with her commitment to serve in the church, she was a faithful member of the choir. She loved to sing church songs.
When not spending time with her family or enjoying church service, she found great joy in crocheting and sewing.
On Monday, August 22, 2016, our loving mother and grandmother peacefully transitioned from this life to life eternal. Her husband, Mr. Henry Weaver, Sr. and her sons, Mr. Henry Lee Weaver and Mr. Larry Lee Weaver precede her in death. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Mrs. Alberta Walker Simmons, Ms. Vera Walker, Mr. Henry Walker, Sr., Mr. Pete Walker, Jr., Mr. Willie Walker, Sr., Mr. Herbert Walker, Mr. Elbert Walker, Mr. Nathaniel Walker and Mr. Israel Walker.
