February 20, 1933 - February 29, 2020

Nahunta – Mary Ethel Arnold Johns, 87, of Nahunta passed away Saturday morning (February 29, 2020) at her residence after an extended illness.
Born in Hortense, GA her parents were George Freeman Arnold and Minnie Lee Hickox. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Culbert M. Johns; a son, Stephen Patten; a brother, Dempsey Arnold; and a sister, Lois Beckham.
Mrs. Mary was a homemaker and a very active lifetime member of Nahunta First Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Vickie Patten of Moultrie, GA; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia “Patsy” Patten of The Colony, TX and Deborah “Debbie” and Johnnie Tallevast of Nahunta, GA; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Sadie Lyons of Jacksonville, FL and Maybel Lyons of Waynesville, GA; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday (March 2, 2020) starting at 1pm at Nahunta First Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held Monday afternoon (March 2, 2020) at 2PM at Nahunta First Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Carson and Bro. John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Waycross.
Pallbearers will be Staten Braddy, Rob Osban, Kevin McCorkle, and Leslie Patten.
Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
