C.J. Stafford, 87, a retired insurance executive and a former Point Loma resident, died Tuesday in a convalescent home. Cryptside services were Thursday in Cypress View Mausoleum. Cypress View Bonham Brothers Mortuary was in charge.
Mr. Stafford was born in Fruta, Colo., and lived in the county 62 years. He served in the Navy during World War I and was a graduate of Colorado College. He retired as chief executive officer of the Kettner-Stafford Insurance Agency in 1968 after 46 years and was president of the San Diego Insurance Exchange in 1933 and 1934.
Mr. Stafford loved golf, was a member of Masonic Lodge 35, Al Bahr Temple, the American Legion and the San Diego Country Club and had a record of 37 years of perfect attendance in the San Diego Rotary Club.
No immediate survivors were listed.
