Nina was the daughter of Pearlie Thomas and Verna Thomas. She was educated in the Muscogee County School System and attended St James Elementary School and Radcliff High School in Columbus, Georgia. She was a dedicated housewife. She was a member of Welcome Baptist Church in Geneva, Georgia. She was also a member of Universal Ministries where she served as "Mother Of The Church".

2 Sons: Willie Harris(Sonja) and Bishop Johnny Harris Jr(Dorothy).
