Officer Herman J. Krus, DSN 4804, was commissioned on 07/15/1963. After the police academy he served in the following districts during his career. They were the 7th, 3rd, 1st, 9th, and finally the 1st. Officer Krus retired on 07/20/1993 and served a total of 30.02 years of faithful and dedicates service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Officer Krus was a veteran of the United States Army and served from 08/01/1959 to 08/01/1961 and achieved the rank of Specialist 4th Class.

He was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John L. and Caroline (nee Guzior) Krus.

Beloved husband for 53 years of Dolores Krus (nee Rohlmann); loving father of Cherri (Mike) Crenshaw, Kevin (Katie) and T.J. (Kathy) Krus, Kim (Dan) Bokern, Jenny (Erik) Peterson and Kerry (Joe) Ernst; dear grandfather of Riley, Molly, Allison, Courtney, Kara, Jack, Audrey, & Samuel Krus, Zac, Madi, and Jesse Crenshaw, Anthony and Dylan Bokern, Haley and Evan Ernst; special grandson Eric “Rocky” Krus; dear son of the late John and Caroline Krus; dear brother of Dorothy Sims, Irene Kopsky and the late Eugene (Ann) Krus, Bro. Sylvester Krus C.S.C., Bro. John Krus S.M. and Bernice Enz; dear godfather of John Krus, Ronald Enz and Mike Kopsky; dear uncle, great-uncle, brother-in-law, and friend.
Mr. Krus was a retired police officer from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department serving for over 30 years.
He was a lover of sports, coaching and playing for several different teams and loved “sports talk” with his grandson, Zac Crenshaw.

A U.S. Army veteran, serving in Germany from 1959-1961, and a member of St. Louis Police Veterans Association.

The family would like to thank the staff at Seasons Hospice for all their love and care given to Herman.

Services: Funeral from Kutis Affton Chapel, 10151 Gravois, Monday, March 2, 9:45 a.m. to Seven Holy Founders Catholic Church for 10 a.m. Mass.

Interment: J.B. National Cemetery.

Masses or Memorials to St. Vincent dePaul Society at Seven Holy Founders preferred.

Visitation: Sunday, March 1, 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
