Karen Delores Atwood Carpenter, 71, of Londonderry, passed away unexpectedly from this life on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born on November 5, 1948, in Vinton County, Ohio, to the late Raymond Earl and Viola Maxine Arganbright Atwood. Karen was united in marriage on December 14, 1968 to Larry F. Carpenter, who passed away on August 20, 2019.

Karen was a licensed cosmetologist and retired from the Vinton County Schools as a bus driver with 35 years of experience. Karen was a retired charter member of the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department and was also an EMT. Along with her husband, she enjoyed going fishing, gardening, traveling to the beach and the casinos.

She is survived by her sister, Vicki (Dennis) Mitchell; brother, Ron (Roni) Atwood; brothers-in-law, Jim Carpenter, Herbie Carpenter, Bob Carpenter and Russ (Irene) Carpenter; sister-in-law, Nancy (Leroy) Truman; very special niece and nephew-in-law, Brenda (Phillip) Roof; numerous other nieces and nephews and special friends, Joe and Linda Yates and Lonnie and Becky Doles, whom she loved like her own.

In addition to her parents and husband, Karen was preceded in death by her son, David Carpenter and special uncle, Earl Arganbright.

A graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2020, in Boblett Cemetery, Vinton County, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Sunday, March 1, 2020, from 6-8 p.m.
