Henry George Fooks was born in September 1853 and baptized on 2 October 1853 at Osmington, Weymouth, Dorset, the son of John Fooks, a shoe maker, and Sarah French. He married Kate Bouts, a teacher, on 2 January 1877 at Blandford Forum. They had four children and lived in Loders where he was a school master. He died on 5 March 1918 and was buried at Loders on 8 March 1918 aged 64.
