Evelyn Golay Getz of Julian, a member of pioneer San Diego families, died Tuesday of a heart attack.
Mrs. Getz was born in San Diego in 1911, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Louis Golay. She was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Wesson Morse, who came to San Diego from Vermont in 1888, and Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Golay, who came to San Diego at the turn of the century.
Mrs. Getz was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She studied music at Grossmont College and held leadership positions in the Music Teachers Association. She also was president of the Tierra Del Sol Council of the Parent-Teacher Association. Besides her husband, Thomas James Getz, survivors include two sons, Thomas Hubert of Campo and Roger of San Diego; a daughter, Julie Anderson of Julian; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services will be at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Cypress View Mortuary, 3953 Imperial Ave.
