After high school, she received her LPN and went on to work in the field of Nursing for over 40 years. In June of 1979, she was joined in holy matrimony to her husband Melvin Hadley. They were married for 20+ years.
Mary confessed her faith in Christ early and was baptized at the age of 7. At the age of 51, she re-dedicated her life to her Lord& Savior and joined Newstead Avenue Missionary Baptist Church. Mary was a very active member of Newstead and served in several church auxiliaries including the Senior Usher Board, Women’s Missionary Unit, Mass Choir, and Hospitality Committee.
Preceding her in death is her husband Melvin, her mother and father Limmie and Emma, her brothers Raymond, Earl, Lee, and Johnarchie, and her sister Mildred.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: a significant other- Norman R. Davis; one brother Warren Harris (Yvonne)-of California, three sisters Emma-Jean Thomas (Edward)-of Chicago, Yvonne Jackson and Beverly Smith-of Arkansas; two daughters Wanna Burnette (Clayton)-of Chicago and Linda Torrence (Polk)-of St. Louis; four grandchildren Kevin Burnette (Treena), Ware A. Burnette, Troy Burnette (Keetra), and Kelly Atkins (Eric); twenty-two great-grandchildren, Fifteen great-great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
