Elmer J. "Pap" Rose, age 92 of Jasper, GA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 26, 2020.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Mary M. "Maggie" Rose, his parents John P. and Eva Mae Witt Rose, four brothers O'Dell, Van Doren, Victor and John Rose, two sisters Velma Harman and Regina Rose.

Elmer was a devoted husband and a loving and caring father, always putting others before himself.

Elmer is a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard LST598 and a retired UMWA coal miner, but his favorite job was coaching baseball to the young men of the Welch Little League.

Survivors include his children: Beverly (Earl) Whiteley of Jasper, GA, Jackie (Rodney) Fly of Lyman, SC and Brenda Rose of Jasper, GA; grandchildren: Earl J (Jackie) Whiteley, Christopher (Canda ce) Fly and Amanda (Chase) Pope, great-grandchildren: Aubriell Whiteley, Xander, Wyatt Fly and Addison Pope, Abigail, Zackery and Luke Jenkins; special niece Sherrie (Shawn) Jenkins; sister: Laquetta (Marcus) Smith; brother: Ronnie (Margaret) Rose; various nephews and nieces; special caregivers: Doris Bryant, Shirley Hall, Jeanie Reavis and Kelly Webster; Compassus Hospice - Perri, Amanda and Debbie.

Visitation will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV on Saturday, February 29, from 1:00 PM until the funeral service.

The funeral service will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM.

Entombment will be at Woodland Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Alzheimer's Association.
