Bryar Emma Sedgewick
SEDGEWICK - Bryar Emma Sedgewick (Edmunds) was born on July 26, 1917 in Millbrook, Ontario. She died in peace, after a short illness, on September 2, 2005, in the company of her family. She is survived by her four sons and their families, William and Monika (Angele), Christopher, Daniel, Stephanie; Tim and Cheryl Fay (Ferguson), Jennifer and Mark, Heather (Von Hagen) and Mike Newell, Christopher Von Hagen, Allie Hilkewich and great-grandson Brandon; Neil and Janet (Watt), Nathan, Claire, Justin Short, and great-grandson Keagan; Gord, and Karon Shmon; nephews Bob, Ross and Rick Edmunds, niece Kim Edmunds, and sister-in law Marion (McMullen). She was predeceased by her husband, George, parents Bessie Belbin (Bemester) and Harry Roskelly Edmunds, brothers Don and Reg Edmunds, sister-in-law Marjorie (McDowell), nephews Murray, Ken and nieces Joanne and Patricia. Bryar and her husband George moved from Ontario to Saskatoon in 1955, where she raised four sons, all of whom graduated with degrees at the University of Saskatchewan, and went on to become successful in their respective professions; an accomplishment of which she was most proud. Later, with husband George, and son Bill, they established Prairie Marine Distributors Ltd. Bryar enjoyed the comfort of living in her own home for the remainder of her life, surrounded by family and friends, frequently travelling to exotic or cultural locales, and attending so many cultural functions throughout the years, they are too numerous to mention. She wanted to see it all, or die trying. We figure she succeeded. Special thanks to: Dr. Ewa Olszynski and the outstanding staff of doctors and nurses at City Hospital and Royal University Hospital, who gave our mother quality of life during her years; with special mention to Dr. Sperling, who endeavoured and succeeded in allowing Bryar to go in peace and with great dignity. Her family is deeply indebted. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2005, 2 p.m. at the Veterans Village, Tawaw Room, Sherbrooke Community Centre, 401 Acadia Drive. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the charity of your choice.
