Sherry Lynn Ann Lawrence was born in Ottawa, IL. on March 24, 1944 to Nicholas and Dorothy Cook.
She passed away suddenly on February, 18, 2020 at her home in Oswego IL at the age of 75.
Sherry is a graduate of East Aurora High School, class of 1962 where she met and married her high school sweetheart.
She went to beauty school and started her career as a hair dresser. In 1967, Sherry began her family and was the best mom ever. Sherry was an active volunteer at her church and children’s school St. Paul’s Lutheran in Aurora, IL where she was involved with Boy Scouts and various women’s groups. She was also employed as a teacher’s assistant at St. Paul’s where her love for children impacted many.
Sherry’s greatest gift was her ability to make those around her feel special and loved without reserve. If you ever needed anything, Sherry was the first one to show up and do whatever was needed to be done. She would open her heart and home to anyone, no matter the reason or time of day.
Sherry was a lifelong White Sox fan and once the kids where grown, loved spending the winters in Florida.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Lawrence, her daughters Melissa (Robert) Kosman of Massachusetts, Sarah (Jim) Cruz of Illinois and son Steven (Lorhetta) Lawrence of Mississippi. In addition, she was “Nonnie” to 11 grandchildren, one great grandchild and sister to Kathy Garza of Nevada.
The family held a private service for family and friends.
Inurnment was at River Hills Memorial Park in Batavia, IL.
