The funeral service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 a. m. in the sanctuary of the Saint Mark Baptist Church in Vienna, Georgia.
The burial will follow at the Vienna City Cemetery in Vienna, Georgia.
On September 9, 1922, a special gift was born to the late Mr. George Holmes and the late Ms. Lizzie Harden. Born in Wilcox County, Georgia, they named their gift, Janie Lou.
Mother Henry was educated in the public schools of Dooly County. She confessed hope in Christ and united with the Saint Mark Missionary Baptist Church. She served faithfully as President of the church choir for many years. She was also an active member of the Mission Board. She never limited herself, she always willingly worked to advance God’s kingdom.
For 22 years she was employed by the Dooly County School System. She was an excellent cook and took great pride in preparing the meals for the children of Dooly County.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Edgar Henry and her son, Mr. Eddie Henry. Her siblings, Mrs. Pearlene Balam, Mrs. Jewel Jeffrey, Mrs. Fannie McClain, Mrs. Essie Mae Morgan, Mrs. Sallie Taylor, Mr. John Holmes, Mr. Frank Holmes, and Mr. Willie C. Holmes, also precede her in death.
